Leonard Greco x Tripping
Time and place. Two primaries for a striking photograph. Light and context (and company and composition) all help seal the deal sure, but time and place run the show.
We were recently sat in Mano’s flagship boutique in Marfa, West Texas, minding our own, our wife stood behind a white curtain trying on a selection of vintage clothes. With no wifi or data, we took to the rack of books and zines, pulling out Leonard Greco’s tan-orange ’Tripping’ publication to read.
There were few words, only pictures; said pictures did a spectacular job of reminding us of where we were and what we were doing in The Lone Star State, but moreover, in the USA. Within those pages, in that time and place, we were together in it.
That is good photography.
