#IANDMEStories -> Susan Cooper

#IANDMEstories is a celebration of style. A chance to catch up with our customers and to learn a little something new.

We are excited to kick off with the effortlessly cool Susan, someone who never puts a foot wrong when it comes to sourcing the best vintage to style with her I AND ME’s.

HI 👋🏻 @susancarrollcooper, TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

Hello, I’m Susan! I just recently moved back to my hometown, Glasgow, after 12 years in Brighton. I live with my husband, Neil and our precious cat, Baby. I collect vintage Peanuts merch and can usually be found with my nose in a book.

GO-TO STYLE OF JEANS

I like a high waist with a straight wide(ish) leg. Blue denim with a bit of softness, I’m over the days of breaking in jeans from scratch even though it’s usually worth it.

RAW, VINTAGE OR BLEACH WASH

Vintage, almost always.

SWEAR BY STYLING TIP

I find this question so difficult!

I suppose finding a silhouette that works for you. For me that’s a high waist trouser with a wide/straight leg and boxy top. I often find those shapes in masculine/menswear pieces.

Don’t be afraid to shop the men’s department and vice versa, clothes are clothes! I’m less concerned with things looking “flattering” (hate that term) and more interested in how i feel. Ideally comfy and slouchy.

JUMPER OR CARDIGAN

Knitwear is my weakness! If I HAVE to choose I’d say jumper.

Obsessed with my I AND ME Stripe Everyday Jumper.

YOUR PARTY TRICK

Disappearing without anyone noticing. I’m an introverted, homebody!

At parties, I’ll be talking to your cat.

FAVOURITE I AND ME PIECE / NEXT ON YOUR WISHLIST

I was lucky enough to see the coming collection through my day job and I can’t stop thinking about the new hemp/cotton denim! So, I think another pair of baggy jeans. I’d probably size down this time for a more fitted look around my waist. Thinking tucked in t-shirts in Spring!

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE FOR SHOPPING MORE SUSTAINABLY

Organise your wardrobe and I mean everything, underwear and socks too! It will help you see clearly what you have, which should help avoid buying things you don’t really need. The most sustainable option is what you already have.

When you do buy something new, buy something you really love, and treat it like treasure! Learn how to care for it properly, washing and storage, and make it last as long as possible. Mend it if you have to.

I like to buy secondhand or vintage too. Some of my favourite pieces i’ve bought from friends having IG sales!

@susancarrollcooper wears her Japanese Selvedge Wide Leg Jeans in Vintage, Italian Selvedge Baggy Jeans in Vintage and the Stripe Everyday Jumper on Sienna / Pink.
